As you walk through Plaka, you will see many
shops selling beautifully painted scenes and landscapes of Greece.
I have found that most of them are computer imagery rather than
the real deal. Then I found my friend Theo, who owns the best little
shop to find original paintings! This family business was started
by his father in 1960. This little shops extends out across the
walkway and is packed with fantastic works by great Greek artists.
Theo has photos by renowned photographer George Meis, oils paintings
by Douridis, Spanos, Alexandros, and Sofoklis. He also offers original
watercolors by G. Papadoperakis and many more great posters and
prints tucked inside his colorful shop. His prices range from only
3 Euros for a small print to about 800 Euros for the largest oil
painting. There are tons of paintings to look at so you are sure
to find something that you can't resist. I know one of them is hanging
up in my mother's house in San Diego right now! Tell Theo I said,
"Hello!"
